About Us
Shamrocks is primarily a Pub located in the heart of Langley established 15 years ago. In the Summer of 2023 The Reverent Shola from Christ The Worker church popped in to introduce herself . In the conversation that ensued we both recognised that Langley as well as surrounding areas had an aging population , there were a lot of lonely, depressed individuals who were struggling with being on their own day in day out and had no where to go to socialise and interact as well as having issues resolving basic daily needs , such as banking needs, insurance queries either car or house insurance (not being able to use the internet), medicine issues as not being able to get through to the pharmacist etc. So we decided to hold a coffee morning every Monday morning 10am to midday,
The success of this group has been phenomenon where it has grown to over 30 individuals attending each week of all ages , where we have had support from local businesses Such as the local post office, Langley Dental care , Willow pharmacy, Foot specialist, Mental well being Experts, Zumba Expert, Bhangra Teachers, all these people have attended and many more to lecture on their specialist subjects and give out sound advice and goodies which made the group not only very welcoming to these individuals but instils positivity in the attendees.
Projects & Aims
In July 2024 we embarked on a seaside Trip for the group and took them to Worthing and treated them all to fish and chips for which the group were so grateful to get away and go out on day out. We are planning more days out especially Christmas market 2024 as well as many more day trips especially educational ones for 2025.
Shamrocks Community Groups main aims are:
- Our group works together to enhance the sense of belonging and togetherness
- Group and the individuals support each other and to others in need
- Promote awareness and better communication between different communities
- Promote Health and wellbeing by targeting health issues
- Social isolation and addressing different barriers faced by our attendees
- create activities that enable group attendees to social interreact , to encourage self empowerment hence reduce feelings of isolation
- We are here to make individuals feel Loved, self worth and wanted. No one is alone.
